Galway Community Circus 2021 Highlights
We can hardly believe 2021 is coming to an end! The end of a year marks a time for reflection. Despite another year of changing restrictions and many obstacles to overcome, we have accomplished so much. We've had another great year full of classes, trainings and professional development workshops, youth exchanges, conferences and so much more. 2022 will be another action-packed year as we celebrate our 20th anniversary, but for now, we reflect on some of our proudest achievements of 2021.

Open Call for Associate Circus Tutors
Galway Community Circus is looking for passionate circus tutors to join our team and help us deliver a growing number of exciting youth and social circus projects in 2022. We are looking for practitioners across all circus disciplines who have experience in teaching, particularly in youth and/or social settings, who are based in Galway or its surrounding counties.

Youth Circus member Darragh chats about his experience on the GCC Board of Directors
In honor of Charity Trustees Week, we interviewed Darragh O'Donohoe, youth circus and board member at Galway Community Circus, about his experience as a young person on the Board of Directors. Darragh was appointed to the board in 2020 and is a full time student at NUI Galway studying psychology. He has been a youth member of Galway Community Circus for nine years and has participated in the circus on all levels. He has been as a student, volunteer, teacher and has served as a member of the organisational team behind Scratch Night (among other more specific roles). He is in his first year of membership with the board of a three-year term.

Youth Circus member Fred shares his experience at ABCirk in Belgium
At Galway Community Circus, our aim is to actively encourage opportunities for a new generation of home-grown circus artists/educators to emerge in Ireland. In 2016 we began a Youth Leadership Scheme called ABCirk for members aged 16-20 to develop leadership skills and competencies in circus pedagogy. At the end of October, a few of our members visited Belgium to participate in an exchange. Read on to learn about Galway Community Circus member Fred Rush’s experience at ABCirk this autumn.

CALLOUT FOR PARTICIPANTS: Circus Transformation Ireland
Training Ireland's future leaders in Social Circus. Dublin Circus Project, Galway Community Circus, Cloughjordan Circus Club and Circus Factory Cork are recruiting participants for a 20-day professional training-for-trainers programme for Social Circus teachers. The programme is open to Ireland-based circus and/or youthwork practitioners, and will be delivered between January and June 2022.

Circus Artist Simon Llewellyn Talks to Galway Community Circus About His Artist Residency
Simon Llewellyn is here to play. To be precise, Simon is in Galway for three weeks in November and December to complete an artist residency with Galway Community Circus, teaching classes and leading masterclasses with the GCC teaching team in the lead up to the upcoming Christmas Cabaret on December 12th. But for Simon it’s really all about play.

Invitation to Tender: Children, Youth and Community Consultation
Galway Community Circus is inviting tenders from suitably qualified consultants to conduct an in-depth consultation with children, young people and their communities as part of the planning process for our new 2022-2027 strategy to be launched in May 2022. Get to know our ESC Volunteers - Gokce
The European Solidarity Corps (often shortened to ESC) supports young people aged 18-30 to be full-time volunteers in many foreign countries. Thanks to Erasmus+ funding, Galway Community Circus has been hosting ESC volunteers since 2013. Homegrown Circus Artists at Galway Community Circus
With our youngest participants in the youth circus programme just five years old, some participants grow up with Galway Community Circus as their second home. The youth-centric focus really supports homegrown circus artists who find their footing on the highwire early in life and pursue the art form they love.
