Galway community circus currently offers full and part time access awards to young people that are hard to reach or from disadvantaged situations. At present due to financial restraints we are only able to offer a limited number of these awards and we would love to give this fantastic opportunity to more young people that would benefit greatly from this.Access awards are given through an application process and decided on by our board of directors. The board’s decision in final.
Through a robust Youth and Social Circus yearly programme Galway Community Circus reaches thousands of children, young people and venerable youth each year. We strive to have the best variety and quality of Circus and safety equipment in house at all times to ensure the enjoyment and safety of those involved.
As a youth and Social circus, we understand the value of performance for our participants. Preforming after a lot of hard work and dedication can be a very rewarding and empowering experience for the young people involved. As it stands, we do approximately 20 shows a year and with little budget for this area we aim to create a production budget over time that allows us to broaden this area of learning to teach those involved further about lighting /sound/video/costume and all the cogs it takes to create a working and beautiful show. We aim to build this area within the Circus to become a part of our professional development offering.
At present we try to host 2 International artists in residency at any one time. They become an integral part our team sharing their love and amazing experience of Circus with our young people. They inspire the young people to dream and think big and believe that anything is possible with Circus
