Spring Term postponed until February 22nd
As you all will be aware, Irelands numbers for the Coronavirus have surged and new restrictions have been put in place. "In view of the immediate, uncertain and rapidly evolving public health scenario, it is not intended to update the published text of the Guidance for Youth Work Organisations. Rather, I am writing to advise that for the current period of restrictions, and until notified otherwise, funded youth services should move to exclusively remote delivery of services, except in the following circumstances: Essential youth work support, focused on at-risk, vulnerable young people or young people in crisis, may continue in person. It is expected that the nature of this work will predominantly involve one to one or very small group work."
This means that Galway Community Circus will not be able to run any physical activities under the current “Level 5+” restrictions. https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/58393-guidance-for-youth-organisations-on-resuming-full-services-after-covid-19/
On the receipt of this information, we have made the decision to postpone the start of the Spring term for 4 weeks. This would mean that the Spring Circus Term would begin on the week of February 22nd.
We have made this decision so as not to add to the lengthy screen time our members are now enduring due to remote schoolwork by moving online and the fact that we may be able to start face to face when we return in February. This decision also means that we are closer to better weather which would allow us to use our outdoor space along with reduced numbers indoors.
Our Spring Term will now take place between 22nd February - 4th of July 2021
Our team continues to work towards meaningful engagement with our membership and we believe that this is the right decision at this time. Thank you all for your continued support and trust in us as an organisation. Stay well, Stay safe and Stay Circus!
