We’re kicking off 2025 with an exciting opportunity for young circus enthusiasts aged 12-17! Join us for Object Manipulation, Youth Acrobatics and Funambulism courses.
This spring term, Galway Community Circus is offering three specialised five-week courses, perfect for teens looking to develop new skills, get active, and explore their creativity. Here’s what’s on offer:
Object Manipulation
Wednesdays, 5:00-6:15pm, running 15 January - 12 February
Object manipulation is an exciting aspect of circus arts that combines skill, creativity, and performance. It involves mastering tricks with traditional props like juggling balls and rings, as well as unconventional items such as balloons or even everyday objects. Perfect for solo practice or group collaboration, object manipulation enhances focus, coordination, and creative expression. By transforming ordinary objects into tools of artistry, this dynamic skill opens the door to unique, entertaining performances.
Youth Acrobatics
Wednesdays, 6:15-7:45pm, running 15 January - 12 February
Dynamic acrobatics are a key element of the circus arts, all about moving with control, building strength, and trying fun tricks like flips and upside-down moves. Whether you practice on your own or with a group, it’s a great way to improve your balance, coordination, and teamwork. These skills help make your performances smoother, more creative, and a lot of fun to watch!
Funambulism
Saturdays, 1:30-3:30pm, running 18 January - 15 February
Funambulism, or tightrope walking, is a circus skill that focuses on balance, control, and concentration, often using a balancing pole for extra support. Whether on a traditional tightrope or a low slackline, it helps build core strength, focus, and confidence. This skill turns a simple rope into a platform for creative expression and exciting performances.
