Join our wirewalking Community Cast and perform with BassAlto in LifeLine

We're looking for 10 people ages 18+ (no upper age limit) to form a Community Cast and perform alongside professional wirewalking company ‘BassAlto’ in the LifeLine highwire spectacle.

What is LifeLine?

LifeLine is a public wirewalking event that will feature a cast of 150 people from all walks of life performing Europe’s largest highwire spectacle over the River Corrib and Claddagh Basin in the heart of Galway City. The event will take place on 16 of July and will include performances by community participants and professional artists.

Who are BassAlto?

BassAlto are a new, all-female company of professional wirewalkers. Their debut performance, also called BassAlto, will premiere in Galway on 15 July and be performed again during the LifeLine Spectacle on 16 July. The performance will be made up of 2 parts; Part 1 is performed by the company alone with Part 2 being created and performed alongside a Community Cast from Ireland. Between April – July 2022, the Community Cast will train in wirewalking before taking part in a 5-day artistic residency with BassAlto to create and premiere the performance.

If you join the BassAlto Community Cast you will...

  • Learn to wirewalk and prepare to perform over the Claddagh Basin through a series of training workshops in Galway.
  • Take part in an artistic residency in Galway from 10th – 14th July where you will work with BassAlto and their artistic team to create the performance.
  • Perform alongside BassAlto in the LifeLine spectacle on 15th and 16th of July.
  • Have the opportunity to work with a world-renowned artistic team including Director Sergi Ots, Choreographer Mariona Moya, Technical Manager Bruno Frenette, Musical Director Gil Mortio and Aristic Director Vincent Wauters.

Prior experience in wirewalking is an advantage but not essential. However, you will need to have good performance skills and be comfortable performing a choreographed piece in front of a live audience.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and the wirewalking workshops and participation in the spectacle is free of charge for all performers.

You will need to be available for these dates and times to hone your wirewalking skills before the BassAlto residency:
