Performing at Spotlight - Oct 24th!

Meet Sonsoles

Sonsoles is a performance artist and circus artist specialising in Chinese pole and physical theatre. She combines impressive circus skills with storytelling, humour and playful movement to create performances that invite audiences to see circus in a whole new way.

Sonsoles is an ESC volunteer with Galway Community Circus for 2026-2027.

Spotlight Performance

What if you could have a conversation with a Chinese pole?

Through storytelling, humour and a little absurdity, Sonsoles explores what happens when she stops following the usual rules and listens to what the pole might be asking of her.

Expect Chinese pole, physical comedy and unexpected moments as she breaks her own patterns and challenges her own ideas about how a circus performance should work.

It’s a fun, curious and slightly absurd journey that reminds us that sometimes the most interesting things happen when we stop following the rules.

Come along, enjoy the show, discover some incredible circus talent and support live circus.

About Spotlight!

Scratch Night is an opportunity for artists to present and explore new work in front of a live audience. The event creates a space for experimentation and allows artists to gather valuable feedback to help shape the future of their productions. Artists present short pieces of work and invite the audience to provide constructive criticism to take away.

Feedback session: after the performances we will take a short break for tea, coffee and biscuits! We will then invite any audience members who want to participate in the feedback session back into the space where each artist will have a table. You are welcome to sit at one table or move around and answer questions the performers have prepared for you.

Spotlight! is organised by the Galway Community Circus Team together with our incredible European Solidarity Corps volunteers.

Venue: Circus Hall at Galway Community Circus in St. Joseph's Community Centre, Shantalla, Ashe Road, H91 A4VW.
