Who we serve

As part of our mission, we strive to be both socially and culturally inclusive. We offer a wide range of classes year-round, so there is something for everyone!

We serve the local community in our home base in Galway City through weekly classes, summer camps, short courses and weekend workshops. We regularly have more than 400 members participating in our classes per term.

We also bring the joy of circus to you through outreach workshops for youth and community organisations throughout the country*, and through our circus-for-hire event services.

Our weekly Youth Circus classes cater for 5-20 year-olds within specific age groups and are held in our circus hall at St Joseph’s Community Centre in Shantalla. Most of our weekly classes for young people have a mixed-skills approach, so whether your child is a beginner or has been involved in circus for years, they will have the chance to learn and develop new circus skills. Students work alongside trained and experienced tutors and learn in a safe, nurturing and playful environment.

We also offer Toddler Circus classes for our youngest participants and their parents/carers, Family Circus classes for adults and kids (little and big!) and Adult Aerial classes.

Galway Community Circus provides a hub for the professional development of emerging and professional circus artists. GCC offers a daily training and creation space for professional circus artists, occasional master classes and professional training courses in circus techniques, and a rich professional development programme for youth and social circus teachers.

* In 2008, we were granted charity status for our work with at-risk youth, marginalised individuals and vulnerable communities.
